Data centre support

Data centre technicians who document everything.

Rack and stack, installs, migrations, decommissions and audits, carried out by engineers who label as they go and leave the rack better than they found it.

Why it matters

Build it right the first time.

Most data centre problems are not dramatic. They are an unlabelled patch lead, a server mounted without rails, or two power supplies fed from the same PDU. IITECH's data centre technicians work to your rack elevations, port maps and power plans, and flag anything that doesn't match before it becomes an outage.

We handle full deployments and small jobs. That includes receiving and staging a pallet of new equipment, building out a new cage and moving live services between racks during a change window. It also includes decommissioning end-of-life hardware and handing it over with a complete asset list.

We are based in Johannesburg, close to the Isando, Bredell and Midrand data-centre hubs, and serve the rest of South Africa by arrangement.

Services

Data centre work we take on.

From one server to a full hall build-out, on your plans and your change windows.

  • Rack and stackReceiving, inventorying, rail-mounting, powering and cabling servers, storage and network gear to your elevation drawings.
  • Installs and migrationsNew cage or rack builds, equipment moves between racks or halls, and cut-overs in planned windows.
  • DecommissionsPowering down, de-cabling and de-racking hardware, recording serials and asset tags, and preparing it for collection or disposal.
  • Structured cabling and patchingCopper and fibre patching, overhead or underfloor routing, labelling and cable management.
  • Cross-connect supportPatching and testing the tenant side of cross-connects, and confirming light levels and link status.
  • AuditsRack, power, port and asset audits, and photo surveys that compare what is in the rack with what your records say.
  • Fibre testingOTDR and light-level testing to prove links before hand-over, or to locate faults.
  • Server room buildsCabinets, raised floor, UPS and generator installations for on-premises server rooms.

How it works

How a data centre project runs.

Planned, staged and documented, so nothing is left to memory.

  1. Scope

We review your rack elevations, bill of materials, port map and power plan, or help you create them.

  2. Stage

Equipment is received, checked against the packing list and staged. Missing or damaged items are reported straight away.

  3. Build

Hardware is racked, powered and cabled to plan, then labelled at both ends. Changes happen in your approved window.

  4. Hand over

You receive as-built notes, photos, serials and test results, with any open items clearly listed.

Response times and SLAs. For projects we agree a schedule and milestones in writing. For ongoing support we agree response and attendance targets by priority in your SLA. We won't promise a figure until we have checked your site, access arrangements and hours.

FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Something else you need to know? Ask an engineer directly.

Do you do rack and stack for new deployments?

Yes. We receive the hardware, mount it, power it, cable it to your port map, label it and send you photos and serial numbers so your team can take over remotely.

Can you decommission old equipment securely?

We power down, de-rack and inventory the equipment and record serial numbers and asset tags. Drives are handled according to your policy. For example, we can remove drives and hand them over, or leave them in the chassis for your disposal partner.

Which data centres do you work in?

We work in colocation and enterprise facilities around Johannesburg and elsewhere in South Africa, with the tenant arranging our access. We don't claim any affiliation with facility operators.

Do you provide audit reports?

Yes. Audits come with a spreadsheet of what we found (rack, U position, device, serial, power feed and ports), photos and a list of mismatches against your records.

Can you work during our change window at night?

Yes. We work 24/7, and most work in live environments is done in the customer's approved maintenance window.
